Fashion only goes in one direction – forward – and African Fashion International (AFI), owner and operator of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017 (#MBFWCT17), is a firm believer in thinking that way too.

Fashion is a huge influential market and through its’ Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week properties, AFI’s aim, as it celebrates a decade of design, is to curate, incubate, promote and retail refined African apparel and accessories, through its world-class marketing and lifestyle events, further placing AFI as a Pan-African leader in fashion.

Partnering with Mercedes-Benz SA, AFI, via Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017, aims to take fashionable motoring from the road to the runway; driving home the synergy between hatchbacks and handbags, roadsters and hipsters, bringing guests ‘the best or nothing.’

Set on the stylish strip of Camps Bay, at the Camps Bay Sports Complex, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017 tent will emulate the likes of Bryant Park for New York Fashion Week, and this edgy setup will house a host of exciting experiences from the 23rd- 25th March 2017.

Kicking off with a silver carpeted launch event, the line-up of Designers and showcase of iconic moments over the past decade, will serve as the story for the creative canvas that is Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017.

Creativity is contagious and we aim to engage, entertain and inspire audiences long after the collection on the catwalk.

With the opportunity to rub shoulders with the masterminds behind the masterpieces; guests will be able to sip on stylish molecular cocktails talking fashion to those who create it, whilst enjoying unplugged sessions from some of Cape Town’s finest musicians in the Experience AFI lounge.

The art of conversation will be complemented by a selection of artisanal food vendors in Experience AFI for guests to replenish between shows, as they relax and reflect on the fashion offerings from the design deck overlooking Camps Bay beach.

The Designer Boutique and Privé platform celebrates the rebirth of retail within the AFI stable, affording local and international guests the chance to peruse Pan-African pieces, with a carefully curated and designed collection of fusion fabrics, eclectic accessories and handbags, available at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017.

With exceptional attention to detail, MAC will offer a makeup station for touch ups, whilst ghd will power a blow dry bar previewing their new products, to give guests the Experience AFI treatment.

In addition, there will be an array of activations to engage guests, including building a Polaroid photo wall, and snapshots of your Experience AFI journey. With complimentary social wi-fi and charging stations, guests will be encouraged to snap shots of themselves and their friends with the metallic Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town balloons and curate content for their social media platforms.

With the best of everything that fashion has to offer from an experiential point of view, inclusive innovation will ensure that each guest enjoys Experience AFI with fashion as the focus.
